The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally altered the way we live. It has proven devastating for many people’s health and, most tragically, taken the lives of far too many. Frontline healthcare workers have faced incredible hurdles, preparing for and treating coronavirus patients, and potentially risked their own health to do so. The fallout from coronavirus-related restrictions has impacted a wide range of businesses, with food purveys and restaurants facing some of the most extreme economic challenges.
Avalon Energy Services is proud to have teamed up with other businesses in our community to simultaneously support our healthcare heroes and local commerce. Following from a conversation on a weekly Kent County Chamber of Commerce update call, we found an opportunity to provide meals for staff at the University of Maryland Chester River Hospital. We supported Orchard Point Oyster Co. and The Kitchen at the Imperial as they harvested, shucked, prepared, and delivered oysters to feed these heroes. We are glad to note that many other local businesses have likewise worked with restaurants to support local food purveyors and provide meals to hospital staff. We are incredibly proud to be part of a community that makes it a priority to support one another during challenging times.
